The Ancient Egyptians are attributed as the earliest candle makers. The Egyptians created rushlights (torches) by soaking the pithy core of reeds in melted animal fat. Rushlights had no wicks so are not considered true candles. In 200 BC, Han China created candles from whale fat. Fast forward to the Middle Ages, tallow candles were the most common candles used. During the 13th century, making candles had become a craft in France and England.
In 1991, a candle maker named Michael Richards searched for an inexpensive alternative to beeswax. He discovered Soy Wax, a 100% natural wax from the vegetable soybeans. His discovery opened the door to a new kind of candle that burns cleaner than paraffin as well as being less expensive than beeswax and other alternatives.
Soybeans are one of the largest agriculture crops grown in the United States. Soybean crops are only second in size to corn crops. Most of the world’s soybean crops are grown in the United States. Once the soybeans are harvested, cleaned, cracked and dehulled, they are rolled into flakes. The oil from soybeans is extracted and the remaining flakes are used for animal feed.
Since Soy Wax is environmentally friendly and renewable, this “green” wax is Rogue Wax LLC’s top choice as it aligns with our values. Unfortunately, paraffin wax is made from petroleum and is not renewable. Soy Wax lasts longer as it burns slower allowing our customers more time to enjoy their favorite candle. While all candles do emit some black soot during their burn, our candles made from 100% Soy Wax burn cleaner and give off less soot. Soy Wax also hold fragrance better than other waxes giving an excellent “cold” throw (when unlit) or “hot” throw (when burning).
Rogue Wax LLC purchases 100% Soy Wax grown, harvested, and produced in the United States. We value the jobs it provides to people during the whole process – from seed to candle.
Once the Soy Wax arrives at our Candle Room, the vegan friendly wax flakes are melted down in small batches and combined with our customer’s favorite high-quality fragrances. We hand pour the melted wax into reusable containers and allow them to cool before labeling them with recycled labels.
As you can see, we are extremely passionate about being earth friendly. #reducereuserecycle We, at Rogue Wax LLC, are creating a life worth living, a legacy worth leaving, and bringing you your favorite fragrances from around the world.
